Joint Mansfield and Ashland County Fundraiser

Downtown Mansfield, Ohio is very picturesque and there is a wonderful little square. The Richland County Democratic Party, as you may have read in previous blogs, has remodeled a building there and owns its permanent headquarters on the southwest corner of the square. One of the wonderful and unique things that they saved in the building is an old tree stump that a local hardware store used to use for its customers to site and test guns. This tree stump with all of its bullet holes sits in the basement conference room of the K.E. McCartney Building.
Our Richland County coordinator, Barb Kindt and our Ashland County coordinator, Nikki McConnell, put on a wonderful event. There were made-to-order quesadillas, potato skin appetizers, and a chocolate fountain, among other things, available at the hall. Your correspondent and our candidate spent the entire time travelling from table to table talking with all the attendees. We were warmly greeted by a number of friends we have developed over the several times that we have been going to events in Ashland and Richland Counties. Among the attendees was our good friend Emily Brown, the mother of Sherrod Brown. Our candidate is well received in Richland County and we were very fortunate to have the support of our good friends there.
A particularly great thing that happened at the end was that the caterer kept the food service open long enough so that when there just 5 or 6 persons left in the hall, your correspondent and our candidate got an opportunity to finally have a little supper before we headed back to Columbus in our car. Another great benefit was your correspondent was able to nod off while our new driver expertly brought us back to Columbus in the war wagon just a little before :30 p.m.
