Columbus Partners Fundraiser, Miranova Tower, Columbus, Ohio

We made the short drive from our offices to Miranova Tower on this cool and crisp autumn evening. The autumnal equinox was today, the day when we had exactly 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. There was a sufficient chill in the air to ensure that we knew that fall was taking over. During one of your correspondent's telephone calls during the day, the person on the other end said, "How did we go so quickly from summer to autumn?" Yet, those who have been paying attention knew that autumn had been lurking right around the corner for a while now. We had such a light winter last year that autumn and the cold air were looking for a chance to reassert themselves. To ward off the chill, your correspondent has taken to wearing a good English waistcoat under his suit.
There are 47 days left until the election. Despite the mud slinging and some of the more unpleasant aspects of it, this is fun! Tonight, a number of our Columbus supporters in a partnership put on a fundraiser at a gallery in the Miranova Tower. It was especially fun because we knew so many of the folks attending and it was an opportunity to catch up with good and long-time friends. Your correspondent introduced our candidate, and she gave a short speech citing the advice given her by the Perry County chairman that the best political speech is a short political speech. We finished the evening visiting with friends and stayed a half-hour past when the fundraiser was supposed to end. We then made our way north in the dark of the cool evening, having a quiet supper at a pub near our home.
