"Here I come to save the day . . . That means that Mighty Spouse is on the way!" On this late summer afternoon, I was sitting in my office working when I got the call that the candidate was not going to make it back from Cleveland in time to make a presentation to the Women Business Owners. So, I jumped in my car and mentally prepared a five-minute speech to present on behalf of our candidate. I was driven to the event by our campaign manager, Kate Anderson. When I arrived, the candidates of the "other party" for attorney general and auditor were just finishing their speeches. I mentioned to the woman in charge of the event that I was filling in and I was pulling a "Mighty Spouse" role by filling in at the last minute. This resulted in the moderator, local newscaster Angela Pace, introducing your correspondent as "Mighty Spouse." She also introduced your correspondent as Jennifer Brunner's better half. That was certainly a change! My reward was the dinner afterwards at Café Istanbul with Kate where we had some wonderful Turkish food.
