Yes, It Was Cold!

Yesterday Rick and I joined hundreds of volunteers who have been canvassing across Ohio in the past weeks. They have been knocking on doors and recruiting supporters for our grassroots campaign for a new U.S. Senator from Ohio who will speak up and stand up for the concerns we hold at the center of our lives. I'm talking about concerns like good living wage jobs, health care for all of us, affordable child care, good education, respect for the environment and for civil and human rights.

Ohioans from all walks of life are coming together to take a stand for a campaign that is about them. You can help them by sponsoring a canvasser with a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or whatever you can afford.

When I met with our Columbus group yesterday, I was impressed by their diversity--a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserves, students from The Ohio State University, a lawyer in private practice, a labor organizer, service workers and so many more. This is the kind of campaign that ignites a candidacy and propels it to victory--not for me, but for you.

Yes, it was cold yesterday, with temperatures hovering around fifteen frosty degrees. But when one of our volunteers was asked why she would brave the cold to do this, she told the new supporter that the reason she was out in the cold was because she believed in our campaign and what this kind of campaign means for Ohio. That absolutely warms my heart.

Our volunteers have spirit and commitment. With a little help from supporters like you, they can keep our grassroots outreach and recruitment going strong. Please help them with a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or whatever you can afford. Your contribution will help pay for clipboards, campaign literature, pens, sweatshirts, and hot chocolate and coffee. With your help, our volunteers can continue "taking it to the streets" over the next critical months before the May 4, 2010 primary election.

Whether it's in Trumbull County or Lucas County, in Cleveland or Marietta or Cincinnati, or your town or area, our supporters know that this campaign is about them, their families and their neighbors. They know we can win this election without the conventional establishment trappings, and especially without the influence of special interest dollars. They know that the decisions made in Congress do affect their lives, and they want a woman in the Senate who is committed to their interests.

Together we can help Ohioans have a stake in a better future. But first we need the help of people like you. Won't you help us by sponsoring a canvasser today?

Sincerely,

P.S. - The willingness of our volunteers to step forward and make our statewide canvass a success has been inspiring.
