Going in a new direction: Ohio needs non-biased advocate of voter education to reduce ‘political polarization’ under Blackwell

Ohio's recent track record with voting and election integrity necessitates a secretary of state that will not simply continue the policies and practices of J. Kenneth Blackwell — someone like Jennifer Brunner. Brunner, a Democrat who has served on the Franklin County Board of Elections and as a legislative counsel to the current secretary of state, is the right person to head a non-biased office, devoid of the partisan politics that Blackwell not only tolerated, but embraced. She promises to conduct elections in a way that ensures equality among different voting precincts by disbursing Ohio's new voting machines in a way that makes sense. Her idea for better voter education is something Ohio has needed for a long time as even informed constituents are often at a loss when it comes to overly wordy acts of legislation. Both candidates have ideas to further business growth in the state by making necessary forms more available through a centralized state database. But mostly, Greg Hartmann would simply continue the misguided habits of the previous administration. For too long, Ohio's Secretary of State has been the catalyst of political polarization, but it's time for change in Columbus — something Ohioans should support with a vote for Jennifer Brunner.
