My Plan
In my jobs as Judge, member of the Franklin County Board of Elections and Deputy Director and Legislative Counsel to the Ohio Secretary of State, I took oaths to uphold the laws and constitution of the United States and State of Ohio, and I took those oaths to heart. Now as Secretary of State, I will use that same vigor to protect the rights of individuals in Ohio’s most basic democratic process—voting.
As your Secretary of State I will use my experience, including 13 years as an attorney practicing in the area of election law, to work as a partner with Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections for elections in Ohio that can be trusted. Every person who is eligible to vote and who wants to vote should be able to do so in a process that is free, fair, open and honest. Elections under my watch will be able to be audited and verified.
The Secretary of State’s office is the central repository for the state’s information. Businesses depend on this office for critical documents they need to be in business and stay in business. As your Secretary of State I will do more—to help other offices of state government have access to and understand information that is critical to decision making. Here is an outline of my plan:

The leadership I offer as your secretary of state is based on experience, knowledge and dedication to how elections must be conducted in Ohio. It starts with a fair process in which all are encouraged and given the opportunity to fully participate.
